6403-916-Training Bible Translation Consultant

This project trains a mother tongue translator in consultant skills, to eventually check Bible translation projects to other West African languages.

PROBLEM
It is necessary for effective evangelism and church planting that the Bible be in the local language. We have a Wolof Bible translator who desires to use his skills gained in the translation of the Wolof Bible to help with other Old Testament projects.

STRATEGY
A senior translation consultant is mentoring and providing learning opportunities to any native tongue translator who can then help with the translation of other Bible projects.

CAPACITY
Fall of 2009, the needs are:
--$600 for airline transportation to Bamako
--$400 for lodging and food at SIL-Bamako Center for the checking of Song of Songs ad Ecclesiastes in Djimini

Needs in 2010 are:
--$600 for airline transportation to Bamako
--$400 for lodging and food at SIL-Bamako Center to help a senior consultant teach a workshop on an Old Testament book
