Community Development Program Director

The Community Development Program at Shikarpur Christian Hospital shines like a beacon of light in the Northern Interior Sindh community. The program offers opportunity to meet the physical needs of many throughout the Sindh, bolstering the Christ-like testimony of the hospital. In tandem with meeting the physical needs of the community, the CDP is an arm of the hospital through which we are free and obligated to fulfill the Great Commission among all the peoples of the Sindh. This ministry seeks to meet the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs in a community, through community health programs and other means.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Able to articulate a clear call to fulfilling the Great Commission among all peoples of the Sindh. 2. A clear understanding of and willingness to learn healthy community development practices. 3. Preferably some experience and/or training in community development and disaster relief. 4. Adaptability and ability to work within a team framework. 5. A willingness to learn the local language and culture. 6. Flexibility to thrive in the environment of the interior Sindh. 7. A willingness to submit to the structure and accountability of Indus Christian Fellowship and its Health Care Ministries Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Evaluate and ascertain new communities that are ripe for harvest for development projects. 2. Plan, organize, and lead community development outreaches. 3. Conduct needs assessments, project planning, and project implementation. 4. Help with fundraising efforts that lead to project implementation. 5. Provide leadership training to a small team that will implement projects. 6. Empower a local body of believers (church) to show the love of Christ through their involvement in community development projects.
LIVING ENVIRONMENT:
The base of operations would be in Shikarpur, a rural area of Pakistan approximately 40 minutes away from a major city and airport. Limited trips are possible into the city. The major ministry in Shikarpur is a hospital, located on a 7-acre compound, mostly staffed by nationals with senior medical and nursing staff coming largely from a few ex-pat missionaries. People working here will need to adjust certain aspects of their living according to local cultural norms, including attire. Housing is available on and off the hospital compound. Single ladies will most likely live on the hospital compound. Internet service is available. The climate in the Sindh during the summer is very hot - usually hovering between high 90's to 115F. Electricity is not consistent but the hospital has a generator.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Ministry will be conducted in and around Shikarpur along with some outlying villages, so some travel is necessary but within several hours. Teams may be comprised of both ex-pat missionaries and nationals, but primarily nationals. Work will be done primarily among the poor and disadvantaged.
