Bible College / Seminary Student

There are some Bible schools and seminaries available in the Philippines to expatriates who desire to be part-time or full-time students to prepare for overseas missionary service. This will be combined with part-time missions and ministry exposure, with the ministry experience developed on a case-to-case basis dependent on one’s gifting, passion, and focus. In most cases it will include working in a local church. This is best served for those who are pursuing becoming a missionary but still 1) need to meet some educational/theological requirements, 2) desire missionary exposure and experience while getting their education, and 3) aspire to not have a huge educational debt upon the completion of their studies. All teaching is done in English.

International Student Outreach

Thousands of foreign students from least-evangelized nations are studying in Philippine universities. We envision them returning to their home countries as new believers who are adequately discipled to express and live out their new faith in Christ. Local believers need training in cultural sensitivity and ministry methods appropriate for international students in order to present the gospel in such a way that the students will understand and receive it. Personnel are needed to start or play a major role in starting an International Student Ministry network. Workers will cooperate with local church leaders in developing strategies for linking international students in the Philippines with local believers, and inspire and coach church members for developing authentic relationships with foreign students. They will look for ways to cooperate with local universities to provide various kinds of assistance such as hospitality, housing, cultural transition coaching, English tutoring, etc. in order to create opportunities for Christian witness. Professors are needed at several seminaries, in various parts of the Philippines, such as International Graduate School of Leadership and Asian Theological Seminary in Manila, Asian Theological Seminary’s branch in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, and its Pastoral Advancement Program based out of Bacolod, and Koinonia Theological Seminary in Davao City, Mindanao. The Philippines has many young churches whose leaders have very little theological or ministerial training. The Philippines is also one of the most open countries in Asia for theological training and we have students coming from almost every country to study and prepare to return for ministry in their own country. In this way, the Philippines is a gateway to training and preparing workers for ministry among the unreached throughout Asia. Seminary programs include discipleship and internships for students to prepare them for effective ministry. (Education)

Short-Term Teams

Church Partnership Evangelism, CPE, is a long term evangelistic and discipleship model that is executed by short term mission teams from the U. S. partnered with Philippine churches. The short term component of this model is intentional and relational and enables members of local churches to effectively evangelize family, friends and co-workers. The long term component of the model provides methodology and tools to disciple new believers and augment church planting and church growth activities.
