Agricultural Specialist

Hope Alive!, a WorldVenture child sponsorship ministry, is planning to start a primary, secondary, and vocational school in the Gulu area. A significant amount of land has already been purchased and the building will begin in 2018. The primary school is expected to start in 2020, the secondary school around 2021, and the vocational school after that. Some of the land will be used for agricultural projects to provide food for the children and to make the school more self-sustainable. We are looking for someone knowledgeable in sub-Saharan agriculture who is willing to train young Ugandans to develop the land. The vocational school will focus on agriculture, so there will be an opportunity to teach practical skills in the school setting as well. Agricultural training to the local communities is another potential opportunity. (Science & Medicine)


Apprentice Program Mentor

The last 20 years of ministry in Uganda has produced almost 2000 Baptist Churches. However, the Church remains a mile wide and an inch deep. To meet this challenge professionals need to integrate work with discipleship. Intro The Internship in Discipleship and The Ideas Workshop. High school graduates are trained in metal fabrication and carpentry in The Ideas Workshop which is owned and operated by The Internship in Discipleship. Your opportunity is to come join Jon and Jenny Davis in the Internship in Discipleship and The Ideas Workshop providing Biblically based in-depth life development and skills training to a group of dedicated and committed young Ugandans. Business Entrepreneur

Unemployment rates are very high in Northern Uganda, so there is a great need for job creation. We are looking for someone who can start up small businesses, while training young local entrepreneurs. Discipleship will be integrated as the young entrepreneurs learn Christian business principles as they observe and participate in growing the businesses. Several small enterprises have already been started by expats up in Gulu, including a restaurant, a guest house, a solar company, and a yogurt factory, and most of them are run successfully now by local entrepreneurs. Training in general business principles is also a great need in the community, so there is an opportunity to conduct trainings as well. (Business)

Car Mechanic

There are very few (if any) quality mechanics up in Gulu, so most of the expats try to get any maintenance work done in Kampala. As Gulu continues to grow, more and more cars will be on the streets, so starting up a mechanic shop would be good business/ministry opportunity. There is a strong need for skill training for young men which can be combined with discipleship. Since unemployment rates are very high, a shop can provide jobs, while it also provides an opportunity for spiritual growth. Child Psychologist

We desire that the people of Uganda become well-educated and contributing citizens of integrity, godly family members, and globally-focused church leaders, in order to impact all sectors of society and the world for the glory of God. This will be realized through academic, vocational, and spiritual training of excellence. Your role could be through helping children in need of improved mental health and training others in child psychology and related fields and ministries. Work with mentally ill children in Uganda through working with the Butabika Mental Hospital outside Kampala. (Social Sector & Family)

Your role could be through helping those in need of clinical psychology and training others in clinical psychology and related fields and ministries. Pastoral Training was identified as a huge need by both missionaries and Uganda church leaders. Your opportunity is to come join the Pastoral training team and train Ugandan church leaders through mentoring, discipleship, and apprenticeship, using a variety of contextualized training venues and methodologies. Leadership Trainer Facilitator / Assistant

Over the last 20 years almost 2000 Baptist Churches have started. Many churches are led by pastors with minimal theological training. Pastoral Training was identified as a huge need by both missionaries and Uganda church leaders. Your opportunity is to come join the Pastoral training team and facilitate Ugandans who are training other Ugandan church leaders. You would spend a week at a time up to a couple of times a month facilitating Ugandan pastors train other pastors by driving a vehicle and providing logistic support for the Ugandans. Help disciple leaders in a local area when not traveling. (Church)


Ministry to Professionals / Government Officials

Ministry to Professionals and Government officials was identified as a need by both missionaries and Uganda church leaders. Your opportunity is to come join UgandaVenture and especially focus on winning and discipling professionals and/or Government Officials through mentoring, discipleship, using a variety of contextualized training venues and methodologies. MK / International School Faculty & Staff

Acacia International School. (AIS) is a Christian missionary school following a North American classical curriculum. Teachers coming from overseas are usually unaccompanied and receive a modest salary, furnished housing, medical coverage and a reimbursement for airfare. (Education)


Nurse

Uganda has one of the worst doctor/person ratio in the world and easy access to quality healthcare is even harder in the North. Hope Alive!, a WorldVenture child sponsorship ministry, currently has more than 140 children enrolled in Gulu and is also planning to start a primary, secondary, and vocational school in the Gulu area. We are looking for a nurse who can monitor the health of the Hope Alive! students and/or at the school and is able to give health seminars to the caregivers of the children. There will also be an opportunity to teach public health in the communities or partner with local clinics. (Social Sector & Family)

TCK Teacher

There are several expat families (mostly from the UK, Germany, and the US) living in Gulu, but there are no quality schooling options available. Mid-2017 a group of parents have started up a small TCK school with about 8 children and one teacher. We are looking for teachers who are willing to commit to at least one school year and teach. Right now, the needs are mostly 1st-4th grade, and a small preschool is also running with 2-5 year olds. Could be a short-term or long-term opportunity. (Education)


Teacher for Missionary Children

Equip missionaries to reach more people with the good news of Jesus by teaching their kids! Currently the town of Mbarara, Uganda, is home to 6 missionary families. There are 9 kids under 5 years old, 7 kids under 10 years old and 3 kids that are 10 or older. The WorldVenture team is looking for one or more teachers to join the team and facilitate the education of these children. The school year runs Sept-May annually. (Education)

There are 9 kids under 5 years old, 7 kids under 10 years old and 3 kids that are 10 or older. The WorldVenture team is looking for one or more teachers to join the team and facilitate the education of these children. The position is for a minimum of one year with the possibility of a longer commitment. (Education)


Teacher Trainer

Hope Alive!, a WorldVenture child sponsorship ministry, is planning to start a primary, secondary, and vocational school in the Gulu area. A significant amount of land has already been purchased and the building will begin in 2018. The primary school is expected to start in 2020, the secondary school around 2021, and the vocational school after that. HA is in need of experienced teachers who can come and do teacher training. Could be a 1-3 year or long-term commitment. Education for the teachers is very poor quality, so even after they have graduated from college, they will still need a significant amount of training, and then continued support in the classroom. Commitment would begin anytime after 2018, primary teachers for grades K-6. (Education)


University Professor (any subject)

University Students Outreach

University students are at a crossroads point in their lives- and are also very reachable with the Gospel. These are the men and women that will go on to greatly influence Uganda’s future through church, business, media, government and professional service. There are many universities and training institutions, but the opportunity to partner with Kampala Baptist Church to reach the nearby Makerere University (the premier university of Uganda) is exceptional. This ministry has amazing potential for evangelism and, especially, discipleship. Note: This opportunity is available beginning fall of 2019. (Church)


Veterinarian

Hope Alive!, a WorldVenture child sponsorship ministry, is planning to start a primary, secondary, and vocational school in the Gulu area. A significant amount of land has already been purchased and the building will begin in 2018. The primary school is expected to start in 2020, the secondary school around 2021, and the vocational school after that. Some of the land will be used for animal husbandry projects to provide food for the children and to make the school more self-sustainable. We are looking for someone who is willing to train young Ugandans to take care of a variety of animals. The vocational school will include animal husbandry, so there will be an opportunity to teach practical skills in the school setting as well. Many of the local communities do not have easy access to a veterinarian, so providing clinics in the surrounding area is another potential opportunity. (Science & Medicine)
