Having served as a local church pastor in a variety of roles and in several different churches (including one in Australia) for over forty years, I joined the Staff at WorldVenture in March 2023 as a Church Relations Officer.
Why WorldVenture Invests in Relationships with Churches
We believe the Church is God’s beloved people, called to know Him, follow Him, and join Him in making Christ known among all peoples. Because of that, WorldVenture longs to serve local churches well and help them take part more fully in God’s redemptive work around the world.
That’s why we created the Church Relations Officer role—to come alongside churches as trusted partners and help them grow in meaningful partnership for Global Gospel impact.
This role is about strengthening the bond between WorldVenture and the local church. It centers on four meaningful ways we can walk together in God’s mission:
- WorldVenture equipping and encouraging churches so they can flourish in Gospel ministry.
- Churches sending and supporting the work of the Gospel through
When these four are active—equipping, encouraging, sending, and supporting—we see a church and mission agency walking together in a shared Gospel partnership.
If your church is ready to grow in any of these areas, we would love to start a conversation and help you discern a faithful next step.
What This Kind of Partnership Can Look Like
An equipping relationship helps churches grow in vision, wisdom, and confidence for faithful mission engagement through:
- Church-focused tools and resources that help leaders see God’s heart for the world and invite their people into His mission.
- A resource hub filled with practical, biblical, and inspiring content for missions engagement.
- Accessible online training for churches ready to take their next step in global mission.
- Training and coaching in healthy missions practice, cultural understanding, people groups, and diaspora engagement.
- Hands-on learning through local and global mission experiences, including short-term trips and field opportunities.
- Personal guidance from Church Relations Officers and WorldVenture team members through teaching, preaching, and training.
An encouraging relationship means walking alongside churches with prayer, care, and thoughtful next steps through:
- Regular connection through church visits, phone calls, and Zoom conversations.
- Intentional prayer for church leaders, ministries, and mission efforts.
- Clear and gracious next steps for growing in Gospel impact.
- Support for churches that want to care more deeply for their current global workers and appointees.
A sending relationship means churches actively sharing in God’s mission through:
- Sending short-term teams to serve alongside WorldVenture in meaningful ways.
- Recognizing, mobilizing, releasing, and referring people whom God may be calling to long-term missionary service.
- We believe missionary sending is most fruitful when the local church is deeply involved in discernment, preparation, training, and affirmation.
A supporting relationship means churches helping sustain Gospel work with faithfulness and generosity through:
- Supporting one or more WorldVenture global workers with ongoing care and commitment.
- Supporting WorldVenture and its Global Mission Fund so Gospel ministry can continue to grow around the world.
- We believe support includes the missionary and the mission agency.
