Agricultural Internship	Philippines \| Asia

Job Summary:

Work with agricultural specialists and tribal pastor-farmers in developing, training, and facilitating reproducible and sustainable farming techniques that will increase the production of food to enable families, churches and communities to adequately feed their families. Partner with community development workers and organizations.

Responsibilities:

Assist missionaries and national church development through agriculture. Learn and develop agricultural skills in a tropical and rural environment. Help others to improve their sustainability in technical areas such as soil and seed improvement, Sloping agricultural land technology (SALT), milk-goat raising and milk production, rabbit production, fruit tree production and management, composting, and organic farming techniques. Live in Davao City. Work with the program at Hope Mt. – a Center for Transformation, which is developing a model farm and livestock for livelihood training. Will work with leaders in tribal areas to assist churches in community development through agriculture. There is much poverty and malnutrition that needs to be addressed on a church and community level.

Requirements:

Some practical agricultural experience or training. Must have a college degree or be in the process of receiving a college degree. Needs to have an innovative, pioneering spirit, coupled with a deep commitment to God’s Word and Biblical transformation of individuals and communities. Willing to learn the language, culture and how worldviews impact agricultural techniques. Must have the physical stamina for travel into tribal areas. Good communication and networking skills are essential, and must be a team player. Single or married. This opportunity is available in the fall of 2011.
