| The Land and the People of Belgium |
|
Located in the heart of northwestern Europe, Belgium is a small but powerful country. Headquarters to the European Common Market, NATO and the World Bank, Belgium carries political, economic and military clout that contrasts with its small size. The climate of Belgium is rainy and moderate, with cool summers and mild winters. Belgians are hard working with a deep respect for customs and traditions. While only a small percentage of the population is involved in agriculture, they provide most of Belgium’s food. The nation has three states—Flanders to the north, Wallonia to the south, and the area surrounding the capital of Brussels—each with its own prime minister and parliament.

| WorldVenture's Work in Belgium |
|
WorldVenture’s role in ministering to Belgians comes at a time when responsiveness to the gospel is increasing. The traditional closed mindset of the people is rapidly changing. As a result of the country’s political and economic prominence, Belgians are increasingly open to new ideas. Church planting and evangelism has been a focus for WorldVenture’s Belgium team. | Goals and Future Direction of the Work |
| Although the doors are opening, building relationships with Belgian nonbelievers is still a challenge. It requires time and patience to see those who are mostly indifferent to the gospel take small steps toward faith. Club and camp activities for youth, sports ministries and education are continuing directions for evangelism and outreach. |
