Emergency Relief For Cyclone Nargis
The Irrawaddy delta of Myanmar lies in ruins after Cyclone Nargis struck on May 2 and 3. WorldVenture has established a relief fund to assist our neighbors abroad. Current estimates suggest 100,000 have died. (CNN story)
Cyclone Nargis hit the country causing a tidal surge to sweep inland resulting in massive flooding. In response to this tragedy, WorldVenture is receiving funds for humanitarian relief (Give to Myanmar Cyclone Relief).
For the thousands in need, you can reach out in Jesus' name. In addition to immediate relief, long-term development efforts will follow as needs are assessed.

Discovering Support
Gabriele is seeking to discover the remaining 35 percent of her finanical support. She hopes to leave for Zambia in late August. She plans to work in office administration, splitting her time between offices in Zambia and South Africa. Pray that God prepares the hearts of the people she will work with, as well as Gabriele’s heart for her work and living situation in Lusaka, Zambia.

Seeking Funding
Our church is seeking land and taking a major step forward to appropriate it. The servants and elders decided to have a Commitment Sunday when people can make faith-promise commitments toward the purchase of land or property. We will present a PowerPoint slide show with a vision for the future to the congregation, and the church will have an opportunity on June 8 to financially commit to this project.
This event will mean the entire congregation will be making a significant step in faith, believing that God indeed has a more visible and permanent place for us. Please pray that God will encourage all of us through this effort, that He will move us to be generous, and will honor our faith by providing the place we need.

The Art of Music
I’ve begun teaching beginner guitar lessons. Most Chinese students stop taking any form of art or music class after kindergarten so a lot of students are interested in learning musical instruments like the guitar.
By the third or forth lesson, we’re slowly playing worship songs together. I’ve found that worship music opens doors because students love the beat of the music and are curious to understand the lyrics. The students will still be around until mid to late June so I’m very excited to see how God continues to move through the guitar lessons and the one-on-one meetings. Pray for these students that God will open their hearts to Him.

In Need of Teachers
Bamako Christian Academy is in desperate need of teachers for next year. Please pray that God would affirm that this is His school and He will provide for it. There are openings in the following areas: Secondary Math, Secondary Social Studies, Secondary Bible, PE (all grades), 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 5th grade. (http://www.bcamali.org)
Praise God that our enrollment for next year is already at 36, which means we need more classrooms. Please pray that the landlord would be pleased to let us add a third floor to our current facility or find another solution. Also, construction in Mali during the rainy season is very unpredictable. On top of that, the cost of supplies for cement and steel has drastically increased here. This is a huge request we're bringing before God: four new classrooms completed by mid-August.
