Business as Mission

Our church was able to start a "house church" this last January in a very poor squatter community in our city of Mandaue. Sixten families recently were able to avail of small loans from our New Life Micro Enterprise ministry for starting small businesses. Pray that their businesses would thrive and they would be faithful in the repayment of the loans. Pray for wisdom as we seek to help them install a community bathroom also.

Character Club

For the second year in a row, Chris is able to teach a "Character Club" at our daughter's private, non-sectarian school of 700 students. This voluntary class is held weekly during their lunch break with three separate classes: grades 1-3, grades 4-6, and high school. We averaged around 20 kids weekly last year and are praying for more this year. Please pray that we can get publisher permission to adapt the Character First material for a Filipino setting and to have it published locally to make it more accessible and affordable.

Seeking Resolution

We have had to close down a Christian elementary school on the island of Negros due to a number of reasons. A former disgruntled school employee has brought a court case against the School Board of Trustees, of which Brent is a member. Please pray for a "clarificatory hearing" that will take place on August 14.

Seeking Long-lasting Fruit

A short-term team from Mesa Baptist Church in Mesa, Arizona, will be with us for a Church Partnership Evangelism campaign from July 25-Aug 5. They will be ministering on the island of Bohol, where we have our first church planting work started. Pray for many divine appointments and much long-lasting fruit.

Developing Relationships

A big ministry opportunity happened for us when Janice and the girls went to the southern part of Romania for a language camp. It was a big success! Besides teaching English and some Bible stories, one purpose was to help a young doctor there with her efforts to reach the village for Christ. The English class resulted in many more contacts for her, and increased the good will and acceptance for her in that village. All together, there were about 70 kids who attended. Please continue to pray that this young doctor will continue to have an impact on these children.
